What should be considered when connecting hydraulic motors in parallel?
Parallel connections ofHydraulic motors are used when you need a high torque in the application. Included the oil flow of the hydraulic pump distributed to the hydraulic motors connected in parallel. In this example, the oil flow (eg 60 l/min) is divided between 3 motors. So each motor gets 20 l/min. This means that each individual hydraulic motor rotates two-thirds slower than when only one motor is used.
The pressure generated by the pump is the same for all motors , but the motor with the lowest load starts turning first. If a load-independent synchronization control of the oil motors is required, the use of an oil flow divider is recommended.
If the inlet pressure is 100 bar and the return pressure is 20 bar, the pressure drop (difference between inlet pressure and outlet pressure) is 90 bar. This 90 bar is the effective pressure. With a CPRM200CD hydraulic motor, this achieves a torque of 238Nm:
With 3 CPRM200 motors connected in parallel, the total torque is 3 x 238 = 714 Nm.
Areas of application for parallel circuits of hydraulic motors
The parallel connection of hydraulic motors is used in conveyor belts or in the scraper floor drives of loader wagons. The parallel connection can be combined by means of suitable hydraulic valves with a series connection combined by means of suitable hydraulic valves. This makes it possible to switch the motors in parallel at high loads. As soon as the torque demand decreases, you can switch to series connection for higher speed.
